Mizoram Urban Co-operative Development Bank Ltd. (MUCO Bank)
was established on November 11, 1988, with its head office located in Zarkawt, Aizawl. It was founded to provide essential credit facilities to the urban poor for non-farm activities and to support the economic upliftment of weaker sections in Mizoram.
The bank was formed under the cooperative framework, specifically focused on urban development.
Unlike many other cooperative entities, MUCO Bank operates under the direct supervision of both the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
Since its inception, the bank has evolved to provide various facilities, including:
Business and Small Scale Industry Loans,Education and Personal Loans, Specialised Festival Loans, particularly during the Christmas season etc.
The bank continues to be a key pillar in the Mizoram Cooperation Department's strategy to enhance the socio-economic welfare of the state.
